English horseback riding lessons are offered five days a week with either head trainer, Krissan Barber, or an assistant trainer. We welcome ages 5+ and all riding levels. Students are taught everything from proper horse care, horse handling, grooming, tack care, and move up into advanced riding and jumping.
Beginner lessons start with learning how to handle the horse/pony safely, how to groom and tack up, and how to clean their tack. Once they become fairly independent in this, they begin to start their riding journey! Beginners will be taught on a longe line attached to the trainer and with one-on-one instruction. Once they are independent at the walk and posting trot, they can be placed in a group lesson with appropriate riding levels, and ride for 1 hour. Lesson tuition starts at $325 per month for once-weekly lessons. We do require a once-weekly commitment for the first year and twice weekly after that. We do require horse showing as our program is competition-focused and offer USHJA Outreach shows right here at the farm! Riders will come to a point after a year or two where they will have learned all they can from the lesson horses, and they will need a mount of their own to progress further than small crossrail jumps.
When riders become more serious about their training, we offer some of our riding academy horses and ponies (based on availability) for lease or half lease. If we do not have the appropriate horse or pony for your rider in barn, we shop for the right fit.
Riders with more advanced abilities or those who may own their horse have training, showing and lesson packages available to them as well.
We also attend many shows that all riding levels are welcome to attend. We even host our very own Blackjack Show Circuit as an Affiliate of USHJA for Outreach shows that riders earn USHJA points! If you are interested in showing with us, please let us know!
